Quick Quotes

Q. Second consecutive round of 68; how did your play compare from yesterday?

MARCUS ARMITAGE: To have had a bit more solid with the irons. Yesterday a lot better with the putter. I didn't get much sleep last night. The hotel, it woke me up at about 10.00, and we're getting up at 5.00. So I couldn't get back to sleep till 1.00. Only got four hours. But I struck the irons lovely today and yeah, I'm really pleased going into the weekend.

Q. Obviously a new venue to you. How did you establish a tactical plan for this course?

MARCUS ARMITAGE: Just do what I feel is on the tee, really. Like today on 8, the par 5, it's a driver, but it's into the wind and I can't reach in two, so I just hit 5-wood off the tee. I know that I'll try and hit driver too hard.

So I amend my strategy every day to how I'm feeling because I'm quite emotional, so it changes day-to-day, and that's how I approach every golf course.

Q. How has your outlook changed since winning on The European Tour? You never really know you're going to win until you win and now you've done it and got that peace of mind and knowledge of your own ability. How has that changed your outlook going forward?

MARCUS ARMITAGE: Quite tough before I won because everyone is saying, "Oh, it's just around the corner, it's just around the corner." And then you look at guys like Blandy, took him so long. He must have had so many close shaves; Ollie Wilson back in the day when he had nine seconds, and just to get over the line and just to get that maiden victory is a massive relief.

That's just the beginning. I want to press on now in bigger, better events and climb up the World Rankings.
