Q. Thoughts on opening right now of 66?
JORDAN SMITH: Really pleased. It was tougher in the afternoon with the greens being a little bit bubblier with the soft conditions but happy with the way I played and made some nice putts and made some nice up-and-downs to keep things going.
Q. You had two runner-ups, three Top 10s, and you've only missed one cut so far this season. I know it's early days, but you've come so close so often, what do you think you need to do for the next three rounds?
JORDAN SMITH: Just keep doing what I'm doing. Keep putting it in play, getting yourself in that spot. It's bound to happen one time.
So yeah, I think if I just keep doing what I'm doing, get myself in those positions and eventually it will all fall into place and hopefully get over the line so I'm not worrying too much. I'm just going to keep doing what I've been doing and playing good golf.
Q. Before you went out, did you look at the scoreboard at all? Did that affect how you tackle the day?
JORDAN SMITH: I think with the conditions being soft, I knew there was going to be some low scores and everywhere you look out there. Foxy is up there; we had a quick look and saw him at 8-under.
So yeah, didn't really change the game plan at all. We knew there was a score to be had out there.
