Quick Quotes

Q. You found six birdies out there, to open with a 67 at the Betfred British Masters, how do you evaluate your performance?

RICHIE RAMSAY: It was really good. I worked on my mind the last few days. I think talking out there really helped. There was quite a few people out there today. It really felt like a proper tournament. It's obviously quite a big golf course, and good strength of field.

It felt like I needed to turn it on and do something today, and it was really please to go do that and have great a good mindset which is the most important thing. Sort of my goal was maybe to -- I need to match my mindset with what my is goal is. I'm sometimes thinking about other things, and today I did that a couple times ask checked myself and that was the difference I think.

Q. Is there somebody that helps you, or is it just the atmosphere with things returning to a bit more normality for lack of a better term where you feel like you're in a better place?

RICHIE RAMSAY: Yeah, it's funny, you enjoy it more. It's more of an atmosphere. You want to play well because there's lots of people turning out. It's a nice place. Fortunately the weather was good for us today. And the fact that you enjoy it makes your job a lot easier and when you enjoy something, you have passion for it and you want to do well in it.

If I was honest, I feel like I lost that a little bit. Had a little bit of an injury and I kind of felt through, that I regained it a little bit by realising, right, do I enjoying playing golf and when someone says you can do it, sometimes you go out -- well, I played my first nine holes back in Edinburgh, I was like, this is brilliant, nice to be back and playing and not have any pain. So it's good for the soul.

Q. Tell us about the course, feels like it's playing differently this year. The weather I think is going to be a lot better than last year, what can we expect to see this weekend?

RICHIE RAMSAY: Putting it in the fairways is going to be important. Obviously preferred lies and that gives you a chance to go attack the pins from there. If the course dries up it will be good. A little bit of breeze will be nice. It was tricky around the greens.

If you just miss it around the greens, there's some really tricky chips with a bit of slope in them. Then you're just got to stay aggressive.

If the weather stays like it is, you have to keep your foot down and make birdies. Take advantage of -- like I say, preferred lies, driving it well and be aggressive into the greens and try and make as many birdies as you can.
