Q. 69, give us your thoughts, please.
JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, very happy. Probably one of the worst warmups I've ever had, so I was quite surprised what I got out there. A lot of good stuff. A couple of short putts missed unfortunately but overall really happy.
Q. Good chance on 9?
JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, 6-footer. Misread it a little bit.
Q. What was going on in the warmup?
JORDAN SMITH: I don't know. I hit it great Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and got on to the range. This morning and couldn't hit my hat. I guess it's a warmup for a reason. So went out there and yeah, played really good stuff to be fair.
Q. Proper field to a tournament, big crowds, great venue.
JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, it's great, and the course is in really good condition. Probably best I've seen it and probably toughest I've seen it for a long time. Yeah, be good on sort of Friday, Saturday, because I think crowds will be pretty thick.
Q. What makes it tough?
JORDAN SMITH: Just the firmer conditions. Firm conditions, and the rough is up in a few places. So yeah, makes it tricky if you feel slightly out of position.
Q. Second in Munich and a few missed cuts. What's been the difference?
JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, it's just been an up-and-down season unfortunately which is a bit unlike me. It's been some really good stuff, and then getting in my own way on a few things sort of golf-wise. Just a bit up and down. But you could have a terrible week one week and win the next week. You just never know.
Q. Do you relish this kind of test, premium on good hitting it straight?
JORDAN SMITH: Definitely, I think this sort of course and the way it's setup, definitely I feel like it suits me. Today long game was great. Putting was a little bit off but long game sort of held up and that's where I can take advantage of sort of the par 5s and par 4s.
Q. You played in the Hero Cup last year, didn't you?
JORDAN SMITH: I did, yeah.
Q. How good is that back in different name, but a goal obviously to be involved back in that again?
JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, a hundred percent. It was fantastic when we played it last. It was really good to get those guys all together, competing against each other, the team environment and the Ryder Cup format. So yeah, it's so good that it's back and obviously has a few new younger faces, so it will be good to see if they are selected and how they play.
Q. Got Nicolai, Sepp and Bob all played on the team, so that's sort of the inspiration for anyone who plays in this one?
JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, I think they should have it every other year for sure. Gets Luke and all the other guys a really good look at who is coming up through and who potentially could get into the team.
Q. Your goals for the rest of the season, a few big events, Irish Open. What are your names?
JORDAN SMITH: The main aim is to get one of the PGA TOUR cards and just go from there. That's the main one, and next year will be the Ryder Cup.
Q. Have you taken inspiration from the likes of Bob who have gone over there?
JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, definitely, good to see those guys going over there and showing the Americans that us Europeans can do it over there.
That's my main goal this year. A few good results and you never know.
