Quick Quotes

Q. I can't think of many better places to start your professional journey than at your home Open. How much are you looking forward to this week?

FILIPPO CELLI: I can't wait to play because as you said, it's my first tournament as a professional and I think and I hope to enjoy all this week and play the best golf ever. I'm so excited to start this new chapter and new journey to see where my golf like it can go, how I can grow in this field with this these amazing players.

Q. Obviously it's nice to play in front of home fans this week so that's an added bonus, too.

FILIPPO CELLI: The course is amazing and like we host The Ryder Cup next year, and I think it's very good. The course looks pure. So I am excited to start.

Q. Let's speak about your summer, because it's been obviously quite exciting, the European Amateurs, the team championships, the Silver Medal, top 10 finish also at the ISPS Handa in Northern Ireland. You're coming into this week with a lot of experience behind you. Do you think that will help?

FILIPPO CELLI: I think so, yeah, because now I'm like more prepared like to play in this field because I already played at the British Open with these amazing champions, and also in Northern Ireland where I finished in top 10, so I'm really excited, yeah.

Q. The Ryder Cup Team next year, are you eager to get on that team? I know it's early but with it being a home Ryder Cup, you must be excited about the prospect of potentially playing in that?

FILIPPO CELLI: It's early to say but I will try to play my best golf ever and we'll see what happens. But it's very, very early.

Q. Rome itself, such a beautiful backdrop to host The Ryder Cup, isn't it?

FILIPPO CELLI: Yeah, because it's in Rome and it's a beautiful city, it's not just a course but also the city. I think it will be incredible.

Q. Just finally you've played on this course last year. What are the sort of challenges that the course has?

FILIPPO CELLI: Yes, I played last year, The Italian Open, and the course is pretty challenging. This year, it's more like wet than the last year, and the green are a little bit slower.

But I think it's a good challenge to play on this course because the greens are so slopey and big, so it's very -- the key I think is to like miss the shot not in the wrong part of the green because the green are not easy.
