Q. It's been a few years since you played in a team match-play event but you've got some great experience from your amateur days, obviously playing in the Walker Cup as well. How much are you reflecting on those days going into a week like this?
MATTHEW JORDAN: Yeah, it certainly brings back memories of what is it, seven years ago now or something like that. Yeah, I remember how much fun they were. Certainly Walker Cup, even the England National stuff that we used to do. Having a team and kind of sharing the same goal in a way.
I mean, we weren't too successful in our Walker Cup but as you can imagine when someone wins, when someone shares, you share it together. That's not something we have. It's obviously very independent when we go out on tour.
It does bring back memories of how you conduct yourself around a team. You all sit together and you all chat and you all joke. Yeah, there's like a togetherness that golf doesn't really necessarily sometimes provide.
Q. And you were the last man in for GB&I, the last pick. Do you see that as a reward for the second half of the season that you had? Obviously the great performance at Troon and second at Nedbank. Great end to the year for you.
MATTHEW JORDAN: Yeah, definitely. I think that's probably why I did get the last spot. I mean, people congratulated me on Nedbank but I don't think that alone was worthy of a spot to get into a team like this.
But the way I performed, I had like four Top 10s in the last six events. You mentioned Troon. I think stuff like that, that second half of the year was obviously really pleasing, and it was nice to see that I was rewarded for that work.
Q. What are you hoping to get out of a week like this?
MATTHEW JORDAN: I'm just trying to take it all in to be honest. You know, take certain things in in terms of what you've got to do. Kind of not necessarily on your own time, you've got certain requirements that you've got to meet.
So yeah, so taking on the special touches and then when it comes to Friday, I just want to try and show off and try and impress and see if I can -- yeah, see if I can impress a few people.
Q. Working under a captain like Justin, given your age, he must be someone when you first started out on your career path almost, he must have been someone you were looking up to as a marker for what could be achieved as a pro golfer?
MATTHEW JORDAN: Yeah, of course. I can't remember off the top of my head how many Ryder Cups but he's won the U.S. Open. He's done a few things in golf that you kind of dream about and that you want to do as a person.
Yeah, definitely, when I get the chance, I'll certainly try and speak to him about a couple of things and his experiences. Because yeah, he's had an amazing career, and he's had moments that everyone kind of remembers. Really impressive to be around and to listen to. So I'm looking forward to playing for him.
Q. Will we see a different side of Matthew Jordan in match play?
MATTHEW JORDAN: I think you always get a bit more passionate and jeeved up, of course, but I don't want to try and differ too much from Matthew Jordan because the reason that I got here was being myself. So if I try and change that, I feel that's completely wrong.
So I'm just going to try to be the best version of myself. Of course when you're playing for nine other guys, then I think it will -- it could mean a bit more to them, or you could show a bit more. But no, I'm not going to try and change too much for myself.
