Quick Quotes

Q. Having a chance to represent a couple teams as an amateur and now in the professional realm in team match ploy, how much are you looking forward to this week?

LAURIE CANTER: I'm really looking forward to it. It's dawned on me as the week's gone on that that's what's going to happen. I played foursomes today. I haven't played that format for like 15 years. It's different. It's a different mentality, definitely.

But I just want to have a great week and enjoy it. I think there's a good opportunity for everyone to get massively competitive and really kind of see what you've got in this kind of format. And yeah, I think that's just from a player's point of view, it's a great opportunity to grow and learn about yourself.

Q. And how much are you taking advantage of having the opportunity to speak to a lot of these guys and learn as much as you can ahead of what could potentially be a massive year for you?

LAURIE CANTER: Well, a lot, as much as you can. We've got a couple of talks a couple of different nights, and we had someone speak to us last night about pressure in the moments and that kind of stuff.

And then, obviously, you've got all these Ryder Cup legends who are on site. I had a little chat with McGinley today after I got heckled on the 7th. I was like, "Do you have a strategy for getting heckled?"

His strategy was, Thank God he wasn't Monty. But it's a great week from that respect, and I think, yeah, you just take it all in.

Yeah, I think win, lose or draw, become a better player but certainly I think everyone seems very, very focused on GB&I getting the trophy back this week.

Q. After your win last year, finally getting over the line. How much has that helped your progression over the last six, seven, eight months or so?

LAURIE CANTER: Yeah, it's a good question. I've played some, like, quite good golf in that stretch but it's been quite frustrating. If you look at my results, I've had like a lot of Top-25s, nearly got into tournaments but not got into tournaments.

But I have no doubt that having done it, when I kind of feel like my game is in order, I'll be really well equipped to handle that. Yeah, I want to try and win lots of tournaments on the Tour. Until you win one, you'll obviously have that slightly hanging over you. Definitely you can hopefully build towards winning a couple more.

But yeah, I think as we all know, the game is -- you have to take care of a lot of stuff. You need a few things to go your way. I'm really working hard on doing that and hopefully that gives me some opportunities in the international swing.
