Q. Let's go back 12 months, just fresh from The Challenge Tour, you picked up your famous win in South Africa and now you're back representing Continental Europe in a match play competition. How much are you looking forward to this week?
MATTEO MANASSERO: I'm really looking forward. Already being here for me is something really cool but of course we have a competitive spirit. So it's not only just being here. It's being here and do our best to help the team winning and to help every AT&T be in the best environment possible.
But in general, I would say, yeah, I've come pretty far, and I have to take that perspective and be happy about it. And that is 100 per cent what I try to do all the time.
Q. And looking back at your previous experiences, you played the Seve Trophy and representing Italy as an amateur. How much do you enjoy team match play?
MATTEO MANASSERO: It's really cool. It's more adrenaline than when you say for yourself. It seems like there is a little bit more responsibility, and with that comes, also, like you give 110 per cent. It doesn't really matter the rest. You just try to do your best.
It's a great feeling to be honest. The win feels double as good or more, and also, the commitment throughout the week to get the job done is not only for you, it's for more people. It just makes you feel that responsibility but in a good way because also you share everything. You share the good moments. You share the bad moments, and that's fun. That's actually fun.
Q. Since you've arrived on site, how have your emotions been?
MATTEO MANASSERO: I would say those I just described. I was excited to get picked, and I've been thinking about this for the last few weeks. I wanted to get here and get together with the team and get to be closer and closer with the guys.
We're an individual sport but then when it comes to these things, we're for some reason really, really good at getting together and try to make our biggest effort to make the other one comfortable, happy, and make the environment as good as possible for everyone.
So that's what I try to do, and that's what I want to do. And on the other side, there's golf and try to perform as good as I can. But that is always the case. Every week we go out, it's like chasing that all the time. But that's the fun part of what we do. And then, we'll see.
You know, tomorrow we'll start, and there's a lot to play for, and we'll share between everybody. That's a different feeling to normal but it's also a nicer feeling.
