Quick Quotes

Q. You must be excited about what's ahead of you?

MATTHIEU PAVON: Yes, I am, it's always good to come back. Last time I was here was for an unforgettable moment, the Olympics. So really happy to be here and to see the fans this week and play my National Open is always amazing.

Q. You must have seen the excitement and the new eyes that have turned to golf in France, especially with the success of the Ryder Cup and the Olympics recently.

MATTHIEU PAVON: Yes, of course. Of course it's getting bigger, which is nice. We love the game, so any time we can see it growing here in France, it's amazing.

I mean, I think playing well in America with Victor Perez really helped and seeing the guys win on tour this year, everybody is doing great this year and it's good to see and I'm sure in France it inspires people.

Q. The victory you had at the Open de EspaƱa last year was big for you and the win at Farmers this year has been even bigger. What's been the expectations from the French audience since you've done this?

MATTHIEU PAVON: I'd say pretty big. Puts a bit of pressure on me. It's a bit different now. You're back home and you try to please everyone. It's a different tournament for me.

I just hope we're going to get better weather through the week and we can show some nice time and enjoy a beautiful four days of golf.

Q. How are the energy levels? This is four weeks now on the bounce.

MATTHIEU PAVON: Well, energy level is a bit low to be fair. Not much of a rest in between American schedule and here in Europe.

But as I said, I'm just happy to be here and spend four days with all the fans in France. So it might help me to raise up a little bit my energy.

Q. The course obviously has taken a bit of a battering today. I believe it will heal pretty well but what can we expect from Le Golf National this time of year, a bit later in the schedule than usual?

MATTHIEU PAVON: Well, we can expect golf to play like it feels 9,000 yards long. It's going to be brutal because the fairways are wet. Always a long golf course to play but the greens are in really good conditions, the golf course is really beautiful. Rough are thick and humid, so it will be a nice challenge.
