Quick Quotes

Q. Talk me through how the round went for you.

PRESTON SUMMERHAYS: Yeah, I played pretty solid kind of all the way through. Hit a lot of fairways, lots of greens. My short game was solid. My wedges, I hit them close. I took advantage of the par-5s. Back nine I didn't play as well as the front, I kind of was scrambling a little bit more, but I was able to save some pars and finish with a good round.

Q. Was there a number heading into today after you saw maybe some of the morning scores that you were targeting?

PRESTON SUMMERHAYS: No, I just -- I mean, being in the afternoon is kind of a good thing, kind of seeing all the scores before, so I kind of knew what a good round was in my head going over the course before the round. So I knew if I just kind of stuck to my game plan, short game it good, hit lots of fairways, I knew I was going to shoot one of those scores.

Q. Does it take some of the pressure off tomorrow's round at Oakmont knowing that you posted a good score today?

PRESTON SUMMERHAYS: Yeah, it does. I don't think my game plan is going to kind of change just because of how tough Oakmont is. You can really be super aggressive on that course. Especially with the setup. So it does take off a little bit of stress, but I think I'm going to have the same strategy going into tomorrow.

Q. Have you had much experience there? Have you played it before the practice round?

PRESTON SUMMERHAYS: I got to play with one time before the practice round. I came down here for the Sunnehanna, I came down a day early and got to play.
