Torrey Pines Golf Course

Brooks Koepka

Flash Interview

THE MODERATOR: Brooks Koepka, 2-under 69. How do you sum up the week?

BROOKS KOEPKA: All in all, I didn't really have my stuff. I'll finish probably sixth, seventh. It is what it is. Not very pleased. I guess it could be worse.

Q. What do you think of Torrey Pines as a major championship test, and do you think they should get another one?

BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, I love this golf course. It's fun to play. I think it's perfect for a major championship. The way it sets up, you've got to be able to put the ball in the fairway, control your irons, and you've really got to putt well out here. That's kind of the basis of a major championship. You need to be able to do everything really well. I think this course is perfect for that.

Q. Brooks, we were -- I know you did that interview where you were kind of talking, the one at 16, I didn't see the second shot into 18, but the one at 16, maybe even at 14, it seemed like you may have been a little aggressive. Was that a fair assessment, or was it not?

BROOKS KOEPKA: No, just bad swings, just pulled it. Once you start drawing it with that wind off the right, it's gone. I was just trying to hit it in the center of the green, and just pulled it and drew it a little bit. From that point, you know it's going to be left of the pin. I'm trying to think of 14. 14, I just stopped my body on that one. I thought it might jump a little bit. I know I pulled it, but it did a little bit.

Never felt like I had great yardage today. Every seemed to be three-quarter, tried to take something off. Never thought I could be aggressive. The one that kills me is 17. I had such a good putt. I don't know if it bounced left or stayed straight. I don't know what it did. It was a great putt. I don't know how I missed.

Q. They'll ask you about your health. Obviously, it seems like you are fine, but we want to ask the question.

BROOKS KOEPKA: I feel good. I'm doing everything I need to do. Knee feels solid. Strength is getting there. Dr. ElAttrache, who did my surgery, is here. So it's nice to have him check up on it. Mark has done an incredible job, and Derek is doing a good job with making sure we get strength back.

I'm very pleased with it. I like it where it's at right now. I know we're a long ways ahead of the game and where we should be.
