Q. Tell me how you think you did during the first round today.
THOMAS DETRY: I think I did really good. I shot 3-under on the front nine, and I think I played some of the best golf that I've ever played. I didn't miss really a fairway. I struck my irons just as good as I wanted to. The course is so tough out here, and you've got to especially drive it well.
My putting wasn't that great today but still good enough. I feel like shooting under par with not really putting great out here is quite an achievement. Very positive.
Q. Everybody talks about how hard this course is. Did you find it as hard as everybody says it is?
THOMAS DETRY: It really is. It just puts so much pressure on every single part of your game constantly, whether it's off the tee, whether it's putting green, whether it's around the greens or it's the iron shots into the green. Luckily, the wind wasn't too much up today, but it could be a bloodbath out here if it suddenly starts to blow.
Very pleased with shooting under par. If you would have told me this morning that I would have shot under par, I would have signed right away for it. Really happy, and I think I've got hopefully three more exciting days ahead.
