Q. Nice playing.
RYANN O'TOOLE: It was okay. Not too happy about today, but it's all right.
Q. Ryann O'Toole even par 71. Can you talk us through your round a little bit today?
RYANN O'TOOLE: Yeah, today for the most part I actually struck it really well today. Didn't make the putts like I did yesterday, but kind of said it yesterday that that's kind of golf.
I feel like for the most part, though, I hit driver really good. I hit my irons really good. I just think stay patient for the weekend, and it's still there.
Q. You put together two solid rounds. You're in a solid position. How are you going to replicate that over the weekend?
RYANN O'TOOLE: I think there's some things today that I feel like probably won't happen tomorrow, so there's a couple of shots there, and I feel like I'm really confident with my swing as we speak.
Putting does feel good. I think I hit a couple past today. I think just maybe morning rounds, faster greens, so back to probably an afternoon round tomorrow. I feel like I'll be back into the correct speed.
Q. Every shot looks like it's right in the center of the club face. Have you ever hit it better than this?
RYANN O'TOOLE: Maybe in Scotland. (Laughing). No, to be honest, the ball is coming out really well. I've been for the most part this year been playing a little fade, but I've been able to now get that little draw going, and I think out here it's a big advantage on a lot of holes to have a bit more of that draw.
And I can just take advantage of it running and releasing a bit more, so that helps. Irons do feel really good, so just staying patient.
Some of the pins today were definitely a lot harder than yesterday. I just feel like you had to play a little more conservative than -- on some of those, so even if you have kind of a short club in, there's just some spots that it's a no-go.
Q. How easy or difficult is that for you knowing that, boy, that pin is just right there, but I can't go at it?
RYANN O'TOOLE: I just think it just takes being -- what's the word I'm looking for -- just smart and diligent about, hey, this is the target I'm picking. I'm not going to go chase it.
I think the pin on 7 is very difficult. I had pitching wedge in, and it's just one of those you fly too far, you're over the back. You turn it over too much and you're down that left side.
It's one of those just give me the 20-footer. If it goes in, it goes in. If not, I would rather have stress-free.
Q. There were a couple of greens that could really get away from you. 5 is a prime example.
RYANN O'TOOLE: Yes, 5.
Q. How do you not be timid on that hole?
RYANN O'TOOLE: If you are picking the correct spots, then I feel like you're eliminating that ability to be timid. I think if you're just accepting keeping yourself in position, and I think that's what I did really well today, is I just put myself in the correct positions and a few long ones dropped.
Today I had some great putts. I left a couple four inches short, so it's just one of those. Some days they're going to fall; some days they're not. I had two three-putts today. I would normally say those typically don't happen.
If I look at that that would be a 2-under round, and I would actually be pretty happy about that.
Q. As an LPGA winner when you come into a major now, is your mentality any different now that you are a winner out here going into the weekend in terms of what you can do?
RYANN O'TOOLE: Well, there's definitely no doubt you want to be a major winner. You've won a normal tournament now. You trying to get that major under your belt is for sure. I think any girl that plays out here is wanting that.
It's definitely staying patient. I got myself to 7-under today, and I think I felt myself kind of -- not pressing, but just wanting to keep going, and I feel like it's going to kind of go up and down.
I feel like I just have to remind myself just stay in the moment. I think I did really well with that yesterday and stayed patient, and the round became solid.
Today I feel like I tried to go or wanted it a bit more. I had the 30-footers that I was -- well, they went in yesterday. Trying to make them today, I have to tone that back just a little bit.
Thank you.
