Q. We're here with Amy Yang, 2-under 70. Can you talk us through your round out there today?
AMY YANG: You know, it was a little chilly this morning. It wasn't easy out there. But I think my ball-striking was really good, and especially putting worked really well.
I saved many good putts out there for par, and I think that gave me good momentum throughout the round.
Q. How special is it just to be here at Pebble Beach?
AMY YANG: Yeah, I've only heard about it. It's very special, very iconic place, and I'm very honored to play this year.
Q. How is the course playing?
AMY YANG: It's playing tough. It's playing tough. With the weather, it makes it even harder. But the rough throughout the course is really thick, and around the green, as well. It's definitely not easy.
Q. You mentioned it's tough in the rough. There's a lot of curiosity about how the women would play here because the men have played many Opens here. How does it work as an Open venue? How is it different from other U.S. Women's Open venues? What makes this distinctive?
AMY YANG: You know, special place. Special place. But I think it's playing tough as other golf courses, as well.
Q. There wasn't much wind today. It's supposed to be windier the next couple days. How much will that change the equation?
AMY YANG: That's going to make it even tougher. It wasn't easy already with the temperature dropped down this morning, but if the wind picks up, it will definitely be playing harder, much harder.
Q. Do you have any guess on where about the winning score might land? The men a lot of times haven't broken par here. Is that possible, or is it going to be a few under par?
AMY YANG: Again, it really depends on the weather, so I can't really say what the winning number is.
Q. You say you had heard about the course. Did it live up to what you have heard?
AMY YANG: Oh, yes, it's very difficult, and it's a very tough test out there, and I'm enjoying every shot.
Q. Can you provide an example of maybe one shot that was tricky or difficult because of the conditions?
AMY YANG: I can't really pick one shot, but every time I hit into the rough, it's definitely -- you cannot play a soft shot out of the rough. It has to be full on.
Q. The greens are much smaller here than many top courses. What problems did that present for you?
AMY YANG: That also makes the golf course even harder than others because you don't get away with it, and especially being in the rough. There's not going to be -- not going to have much spin on the ball, and you'll end up chipping from another rough around the green, which makes it even harder.
