Q. What was the experience like stepping on to the first tee at the U.S. Women's Open at Pebble Beach?
LEXI THOMPSON: Well, I started on 10, but still amazing. I've only played this course once, and it was for an outing last year for my first time. It's such a special spot. So many amazing views, and I'm just happy that the women are starting to play golf courses of this caliber.
Q. Overall how did the course play today?
LEXI THOMPSON: Hard. I know there could be a lot more wind than there is today. It always plays difficult. Tee shots are hard, and bunkers have a lot of sand and the rough is up really thick. It's definitely a major championship golf course.
Q. You were in pretty good shape after the birdie on 15. What happened on 1 with the double bogey?
LEXI THOMPSON: I hit not that bad of an iron shot, only five yards left, and it plugged in the bunker. Couldn't really get it out, and it only guy it out to the fescue that was just above the bunker and chipped it up and missed my bogey putt.
Q. How was it having your brother on the bag with all his experience and having played here at Pebble Beach before as an amateur?
LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, it's great. He probably knows the golf course better than anybody, definitely me, so I definitely trust his knowledge out here. It's not every week, but I know he's played here before, so it's definitely helpful.
