Q. You're 5-under for today and 1-over overall. Walk me through your round and how you played today.
XIYU LIN: I think today is a little tougher day. Definitely got a little windier in the afternoon. My own game, I'm struggling off the tee. Couldn't quite hit the tee shot I wanted to, so that got me into a lot of trouble. I played the par-5s poorly.
I think overall there's still some highlights. Like I chipped in for birdie on 8. That was pretty cool. I saved some really good pars, too.
But I think I need to straighten it out a little bit because you need to get on the fairway first.
Q. You made the cut; what's that feeling, making the cut at a U.S. Women's Open?
XIYU LIN: Of course you're coming to the tournament like this, you do have -- your first little goal is making the cut. I would say after last round that wasn't even in my concern really.
Yeah, it was a little rough. But I think overall making the cut is still a pretty good little progress. At least I have two more days to try to catch up or whatever or even just enjoy playing at this beautiful course.
Q. What do you think is the most challenging part of this course today?
XIYU LIN: I think the fairway is getting firmer. On the 9th hole I didn't even hit it that far offline and the ball just kept going and went into the water.
I felt like the fairway is going to get firmer, and this afternoon the wind is a little stronger and the greens a little more bumpier, and the temperature is getting lower, too.
I definitely think after the round it's a little harder than the morning round.
