Q. Third U.S. Women's Open, first one in your home state. How did you play?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Feel pretty good. It was nice to have one in California. It's what I've always hoped for. Yeah, I'm glad I got off to not a bad start. The putts just weren't falling today. I feel like I hit some really good shots out there. I just couldn't get the ball to go in the hole.
Yeah, other than that, it was pretty good. It was fun.
Q. How were the conditions today compared to earlier in the week during your practice rounds?
ASTERISK TALLEY: The greens are definitely firmer. We knew that was going to happen come Thursday. Yeah, it was just kind of tough to get used to, I guess, in the beginning. Then I kind of dialed it back toward the end but just couldn't make any putts.
Q. And No. 10 has obviously been a big topic this week. You birdied it. How did that feel, and how did you choose to attack it?
ASTERISK TALLEY: I hit 3-wood off the tee today. I actually had a pretty dicey chip shot there. It was only around 60 yards over that little bunker, and it was pretty tucked pin position with it being so close to the back bunker and not really having a lot of room.
But I ended up hitting a perfect shot just over the front bunker, and it rolled out to about four feet. It was a pretty good kick-in birdie, yeah.
