GB&I Quick Quotes

DEAN ROBERTSON: We came here with a focus to raise our standard, to emulate what's only been done twice in 100 years, which is to beat the U.S. But Nathan's team, big congratulations to them. They've played fantastic.

We were in it. We fought hard. Our foursomes performances were exceptional. But for a few putts, I think the big difference for us is we need to be better putters.

The U.S. Team are loaded with talented individuals, but we are, too. But certainly when it came to -- we never really managed to kind of clutch out some of the games, and then this afternoon Team USA performed brilliantly, and hats off to them, and well done, Nathan and his team.

Q. Your team showed a lot of fight. What was the emotion like for you watching your team fight?

DEAN ROBERTSON: We had a belief. We had a goal, and the goal was 13 and a half points. Even at lunchtime today, we had to come out and we had to get momentum. But the red went on the board early, and the top U.S. players, hats off to them, they played fantastic.

I'm really proud of my players. They'll grow from this. I was in the same position 32 years ago as a Walker Cupper at Interlachen. As much as losing sucks, if it didn't, then it wouldn't matter. They'll use that. These experiences that they've gained at Cypress Point and all the spectators, the fans, the golf club, the USGA, the R&A, everybody has been amazing, and those are memories made for life.
