Q. Good playing today. After birdieing hole 1 on your second round and getting the lead, what were your emotions like?
BROOKS SIMMONS: Well, I haven't really been down on week so I just kept my foot on the gas and kept on hitting the shots and committing to all of them.
Q. Yeah. After last year's round of 64 exit, how does it feel to reach this quarterfinals this year?
BROOKS SIMMONS: It feels really good, because last year I kind of got cooked, like absolutely waxed in the first round.
But to be back in the quarterfinals this year feels pretty good.
Q. And like you said, you've led all day. What parts of your game have contributed to your success?
BROOKS SIMMONS: My ball striking has been really well and then my putting is just now starting to get better. Hopefully it carries on tomorrow.
Q. What do today's wins do in terms of your confidence levels going into the rest of the weekend?
BROOKS SIMMONS: Very good how I'm hitting the ball and how all the results are coming out. Yeah, pretty good.
Q. With a spot in the quarterfinals you get a spot in next year's U.S. Am in Trinity Forest in Dallas, which is in your how Town. Have you ever played there?
BROOKS SIMMONS: Yeah, play there a lot.
Q. Ready to rip it up in next year?
BROOKS SIMMONS: Yeah.
Q. Do you know who Neal Shipley is? Has anyone told that you you look like him?
BROOKS SIMMONS: She just told me I look like Neal Shipley.
