Q. Catriona Matthew, 1-under 71. Catriona, how would you evaluate your play today?
CATRIONA MATTHEW: Yeah, I mean, I actually played really well. Gave myself a lot of chances; just couldn't quite get the putter working.
You know, annoying to finish with a bogey. Overall fairly pleased.
Q. What does being able to play in this championship this year mean to you now that you're in the Senior Women's Open club?
CATRIONA MATTHEW: Yeah, it's great to be able to come and play in this. As my kids said, I've got a chance of winning this one. So, yeah, it's nice to come back and play with a few people you used to play with.
Q. And to be able come, your first time, play so well and put yourself in contention, how does that feel?
CATRIONA MATTHEW: Yeah, it's great. Kind of nerve wracking obviously not be being up there in contention for a while now. Yeah, I'm enjoying it.
Q. What was your preparation like for this event and the run-up?
CATRIONA MATTHEW: I went and played actually and LET event down in the London couple weeks ago, so that was my first tournament since Troon last year.
Q. So it was a long time.
CATRIONA MATTHEW: Long time, but everyone is in the same boat.
Q. Yeah. Did you miss competition in that time?
CATRIONA MATTHEW: To be honest, not really. To be honest, I think I played 25 years out here. I think I'm enjoying being at home more and -- I mean, it's nice being out here and competing when you feel you're kind of a little competitive, but I'm enjoying being captain of the Solheim team and that's keeping me involved in the game.
Q. Will you play in the Scottish and the British after that?
CATRIONA MATTHEW: Not going to play the Scottish. I'm actually playing Spain next week on the LET. Not playing the Scottish and then I'll play the British.
