Q. So much to be proud of this week.
ELLEN PORT: Thank you. Thank you.
Q. Just talk a little bit about the week as a whole.
ELLEN PORT: Yeah, yeah, you got to play four rounds of golf. You know, thank goodness I had those two rounds, and you add them up and it was -- this is a great event, so I did some good things. Personally just with the game I just have a few things I need to keep working on.
As far as this event, it's becoming my favorite event. It's just amazing. Great playing partners all week. I'm thrilled for the people coming down the stretch that have a chance to win this.
It was just off the chart experience.
Q. Talk about the crowds. It seems like you're one of the fan favorites.
ELLEN PORT: Crowds are great as far as the amateur thing. People always root for amateurs, and we got some St. Louis people here. Dana steals the show. She's got that bubbly, wonderful personality. But they have embraced us as a group, and that just is really fun.
I tell you the truth, it's hard to hear all the excitement and the claps and the roars. It's different, whole different setting, but it's what golf is all about. This event has a really good vibe about it, more so than I think most events.
Q. What was it like playing with Dana the last few days?
ELLEN PORT: Great. It was great. She's positive and she's a coach at heart. I was a golf coach so we could read each other's mind. I was struggling a little bit and she was like, It's okay. We got this. And so it was great. Really great.
Q. Even with the bogey on 18 you are -- you and Martha are...
ELLEN PORT: I knew Martha was going to have a good round. I tried to not think about that, because when you want something, it's like she's got that. You know, won in 2018 and she's a wonderful player, so it's an honor to share that with her.
Yeah, I didn't drive the ball very well today and I had a lot more birdie chances. That's kind of what happened yesterday. I had a few bad swings, but also had a lot of good opportunities to make some birdies. Six-footer on 15, you know, and missed -- just missed the birdies.
But I did make a couple good par saving putts. I was just off today, so I had to fight and try to stay positive.
Q. Yeah. What does this finish do for your confidence going forward?
ELLEN PORT: Yeah, what it does is I don't have to qualify next year so I can plan ahead and bring all my St. Louis friends been texting me to Dayton, Ohio. It shows me that I just need to -- there are some things in my swing that I need to keep working on. I kind of fell back to some old patterns.
Just really emphasized putting and short game. Just reminds me of all the things I already know.
