Q. Catriona Matthew, 3-under. Some really nice playing out there today. Six birdies on a day they're hard to come by. What was working well for you?
CATRIONA MATTHEW: I think after the first couple of holes I had a couple of three-putts and then hit it close on the par -- well, made a good save on the par-5 for birdie. Then hit it close on the par-3 for another birdie, and then birdied 17 and 18.
I think after the first couple of holes, I just started putting a little bit better. Got the pace a little bit better and then holed a few kind of good seven-, eight-footers for par or birdie.
Q. You've seen the course a little bit this week. What were your first initial reactions to it and how did it play today?
CATRIONA MATTHEW: Yeah, it's playing quite long, I would say, for a Senior Women's Open. The greens are in fantastic shape. The greens are pure. You know if you hit a putt and it's on line they're going to go in, but they're undulating. They're tricky. You've got to be in the right spots, and if you're in the wrong spot they can get really fast and away from you.
The greens were softish today, though, so you could fire at the pins and it wasn't too bad.
Q. Talk about the group you were playing with today.
CATRIONA MATTHEW: Yeah, obviously great to play with Annika and Charlotta. I've known them both a long time. We had a nice round out there. Nice to catch up with them.
Q. Where does this event fit in the scheme of the year for you?
CATRIONA MATTHEW: This is the event I try and play well in each year. This is, as my kids would say, it's the only one you've got a chance in. Yeah, this is basically my main focus for the year is to try and play well in this one.
