THE MODERATOR: Please welcome Steve Stricker to the U.S. Senior Open interview room at the Newport Country Club.
Steve, a couple of dropped shots yesterday left you a lot to do. What happened on some of those bogey holes early on?
STEVE STRICKER: I never really played all that well all day. Had some opportunities when I came back out today, and I thought, if I could make four birdies, we could get right in there, and that would have won the tournament.
It was hard out there. The wind came out of a different direction. Finishing holes were pretty good. Yeah, the greens were a bit slower from the rain. You had to adjust again.
That's kind of what it felt like all week long. You're just constantly adjusting to conditions out there.
Yeah, it was a great week, though, great facility, great course. It was a lot of fun.
Q. Fourth place here, been in the mix in a lot of your Senior Opens, in addition to the win. How would you sum up the week?
STEVE STRICKER: A bit disappointing really, to be quite honest with you. Just not doing the things that I need to do to try to win a tournament, or enough to do to win a tournament.
I do enough good things, but I'm doing some bad things still on the greens. Just not cleaning the putts up very good at times, silly mistakes. Just, yeah, not very good at times, and that's what's costing me.
Q. Played with Hiroyuki the last two days. You've got 10 and 18 here for a two-hole aggregate playoff. What are these two about to face?
STEVE STRICKER: 10 is downwind now today. He hung in there. He got off to a rough start when we came back this morning, but then he kind of righted the ship. Almost made that putt on the last hole to win the tournament.
Yeah, he does a lot of good things. He's very consistent down the middle, on the green, putts well. Should be an interesting playoff.
