Quick Quotes

Q. How was your overall play today?

SAM JACKSON: It was okay. It was kind of up and down. Made some birdies, made some really bad bogeys. Putter really let me down coming down the stretch. Missed a short one at 15 to win -- would've won the hole, and then a putt to win the hole on 16 that I missed. Don't usually miss those but, you know, you get some nerves involved in an event like this and I just didn't handle it the way I should have.

Q. When you're in the fairway and looking at your approach shot into 18 and you already know he's supposedly in trouble in the rough, what are you thinking over that shot?

SAM JACKSON: To be honest, I was kind of struggling with my swing a little bit today. I was trying to get it here on the left and kind of heel cut it in the bunker, and hit a lot those today, so...

Q. What iron did you hit?

SAM JACKSON: It was a 9-iron.

Q. Looking at your bunker shot, since the you were kind of over there yesterday to win your match, but not in the same place.

SAM JACKSON: Yeah.

Q. What were you looking at?

SAM JACKSON: I was confident with it. I'm really confident with a 60-degree. I chipped it really well this week. Just caught it a little thin. Obviously that happens.

I mean, I wasn't too concerned with it. Feel like I can get up and down pretty much from anywhere. Just didn't happen.

Q. Does your play this week prove you belong with this group of mid-amateurs?

SAM JACKSON: I think so. I mean, I went down the whole stretch with the best mid-amateur in the world, so didn't quite have my best stuff and I know he didn't either. It was still a really good match and Stewart is a great dude. I got nothing but obviously a ton of respect for him.

You know, just excited and happy to be out here with him.

Q. What will you take from this whole week as you think about what you might do down the road as a mid-amateur player?

SAM JACKSON: Yeah, just kind of keep doing what I'm doing. I don't really set a ton of goals, so just take one event at a time and see what happens.

Yeah, obviously taking a ton of confidence away from this week because it was a good run.

Q. A lot of these guys have to get back to their jobs. How fast do you have to get back to your job?

SAM JACKSON: Tomorrow morning. Tomorrow morning. I have a virtual appointment this afternoon I have to get on. I'll do that, and then got a couple in-person appointments tomorrow.

Q. Tell us a little bit about your job in sales.

SAM JACKSON: I'm outside sales rep for Pella Windows in Columbia. So me and Cole, my caddie, we are both the reps there in Columbia. So going into homes and hopefully helping homeowners improve their house.
