Q. 2-under on the day. Can you talk a little bit about your round and your emotions teeing off to start the championship.
KIPP POPERT: Yeah, played extremely solid, especially on my front nine, the back nine. Had a lip-out on the first and then was 5-under in total for that front nine. Coming into the back nine was feeling good, had two poor holes, but was really pleased with how I just kept going, didn't give up. I think I'm in contention, so that's all I can ask for. You can't win it on day one.
Q. I know you were mentioning your practice and previous experience here. Did you feel that it did help you today throughout the round?
KIPP POPERT: Yeah, big time. There were small things you can pick up from last year that you know, and hindsight is a beautiful thing, so using that to our advantage was really important.
Q. What does the next day or so look like for you before your tee time tomorrow?
KIPP POPERT: A haircut. My hair is far too long. It's too humid here, so got to get a haircut. Then eat, hang out with Curtis, my friend, then come do it again tomorrow. I'm having a great time, so it's good fun.
