Andy Sullivan

Q. Thank you so much for joining us. A nice round to Open the 149th Open Championship from you. Can you talk to us a little bit about it, please?

ANDY SULLIVAN: Yeah, got off to a really good start today by holing I think it was 30 feet on the first for birdie. Holed another good one on 4. It just sort of got my round off to a nice start.

I was hitting a lot of good shots in the middle there, a few mistakes, but felt like I was in control of my game, and then finished really well at the end there.

Yeah, I felt really quite composed out there today in terms of tee to green, felt good and holed some good footage out there, which is something we've been working quite hard on the last few weeks to get better at, and it's nice to see it coming to fruition on the golf course.

Q. It's also lovely to see it coming to fruition in the very first round of a major championship today. More of that again tomorrow?

ANDY SULLIVAN: Yeah, definitely. When you're working on something you don't always expect it to come to fruition straight away. It's nice that in a short space of time, four or five weeks we've really been working hard at it, it's really started to improve. It's nice that obviously it's come together the week of The Open.

Q. Talk to us about being the first group of the day.

ANDY SULLIVAN: You know, it's always a privilege, I think, to be in the first group of the day. I did it at Carnoustie with Sandy Lyle, and that was amazing. Obviously Sandy's last Open. It was pretty special.

Today as I was saying to the boys, it's probably the one event of the year where you actually don't mind getting up early. For other events you sort of drag yourself out of bed and look like the Kellogg's man. Today actually wasn't too bad. You've always got a buzz to come and play The Open.
