Q. (No microphone).
TALOR GOOCH: Just stayed out of trouble. You're going to have your opportunities to make birdies out there, but you just have to eliminate the bogeys and eliminate the trouble that you can get into, which could very easily happen. I did a good job of eliminating the trouble today.
Q. How firm were the conditions?
TALOR GOOCH: Firmest I've ever seen, no doubt. Anybody I've asked over the last 48 hours has agreed. It's the firmest golf course anybody I think has ever seen. It was amazing.
Q. How tricky were the pins as well?
TALOR GOOCH: They were so good. Everything from the second pin to the 16th pin, there were so many spots we kept saying that's a doozy, that's not bad, that's not fair. It's just a really good, really tough pin. That's such a great way to protect the course because if you miss it in the wrong spots to some of these pins, you have no chance. They did a great job with them.
Q. What's your reception been like this week?
TALOR GOOCH: It's been great. I was just telling them, after playing my first Open last year, I called it the greatest golf tournament I ever played, and it's because of the fans. This year the fans are just spectacular. It makes it the most amazing week of golf all year for me.
Q. You caught a little bit of flack for the comments at the Portland deal about Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. How does this compare?
TALOR GOOCH: Again, it's not comparable because that was team golf and this is not team golf. Yeah, it's tough to compare. It's kind of apples and oranges out there.
Q. What was it like out there today?
TALOR GOOCH: It was spectacular out there. There's no better clap, cheer, roar than one at The Open. There's something different about it. It sounds better than any other place.
