SERGIO GARCIA: Yesterday afternoon, hit the ball nicely. Gave myself a lot of looks. Drove the ball a lot better than yesterday. That always helps, in any golf course, but here at St Andrews, even more. So, yeah, that obviously helped. And just a shame the last two holes.
Q. How much softer was it than yesterday?
SERGIO GARCIA: A little bit. Not a lot. The kind of rain we had, it wasn't torrential rain or anything like that; it was still releasing quite a lot.
It's not like we were stopping the ball on a dime because of that little bit of rain.
Q. D.J. is up there. You played well today. Lee's up there. Ian's up there. What does it say about LIV Golf?
SERGIO GARCIA: Great. I hope we do really, really well. If we do well, it helps all of us there.
Q. With everything that's been said the last couple of weeks, how much has it galvanised you guys, I mean even the R&A this week?
SERGIO GARCIA: I don't care what they say. I don't even read. I don't know how to read anymore.
Q. Since you won the Masters, your record in the majors is not what you've come to expect. How pleasing it to shoot a round like you have today?
SERGIO GARCIA: I mean, obviously, yeah, we all wish to play better than we do, even when we play really well. And I haven't been very sharp in the majors. So some of them, I felt like I played really well and got nothing out of it. And some others, I haven't played well.
So it's nice to at least shoot a good round today and get into the weekend. And we'll see what we can do.
Q. How special will it be to contend in The 150th Open at St Andrews?
SERGIO GARCIA: It's going to take two really, really good rounds. With the conditions this afternoon, I'm expecting the leading score to be at least probably a 12-under. So it's going to take two really big rounds on the weekend to contend. So we'll go little bit by little.
Q. You've got a history in the competition, you had some near misses, but is it good to be back involved in it, does it get you fired up the fact that you have that connexion with it?
SERGIO GARCIA: Of course. I've always said, other than the Ryder Cup, this is my favourite tournament of the year. So it is nice to be a part of it on the weekend.
Obviously I would love to shoot a couple under par. Probably I should have shot yesterday. And then with today's round, we'll be in much different situation. But it's what it was. And we'll try to have a good weekend.
Q. Since you've signed on with LIV, how has your life been?
SERGIO GARCIA: Great. Much better.
Q. Aaron Jarvis said he met you at the Masters. Now you played with him for two rounds. What do you make of his game? He had a pretty good day today. Did he at least give himself a chance?
SERGIO GARCIA: Obviously I played a practise round with him at the Masters. He's definitely swinging much better this week than when he was there. And I think he's probably getting used to being out here a little bit more, a little bit better because it's not that easy.
But we had a good time. Obviously he played very well today and hopefully makes it. I have a feeling he's going to be a little short with the conditions. But at least he gave himself a chance.
