Jon Rahm

Q. Great week for the Europeans; the landscape has changed a lot since the last Ryder Cup. How do you see your chances in Rome this year?

JON RAHM: I'm not going to lie, I'm absolutely clueless about who's around me on the leaderboard. It's not like I'm paying attention to where anybody is from. Yeah, it's been a good year for the Europeans, but what you do during the year doesn't really matter when you go to the Ryder Cup.

It's 18-hole matches. It's about showing up that day. That's why I think Europe has done a really good job in the past. We always hear about the accolades the American team always has, and they still do, and on paper they should be better, but it's all about what you do against the man in front of you that day.

Still very positive that you have so many of us playing good golf and up there on the leaderboards.

Q. With the major season over, do you think about Player of the Year stuff frequently or not at all?

JON RAHM: Well, goal was to hopefully win an Open. That's done. So now focus on the Playoffs. That's all I can say. Good golf takes care of things.

Q. You mentioned some missed putts the first two days. Do you go back to those --

JON RAHM: No. It's golf. He won by six. It's not like he won by two or three. He won by six, so there's nothing really any of us could have done. There's nothing any of us could have done.

Q. Back to Ryder Cup, Rory is saying it's major motivation for a lot of players. Looking back two years ago, how much does that burn and is the motivation to get back for Europe and get things right?

JON RAHM: You know, I just finished The Open Championship. I'm not going to lie. I love the Ryder Cup, but it's not really on my mind right now. Especially after the day like we had today.

I'm looking forward to a shower. I know we're going to have a lot of new faces on the team and everybody wants to rectify what happened two years ago.

With Luke's guidance, we're going to have a really strong team, and I'm looking forward to it, and we should have a really good chance of getting that Cup back and defending home turf.

Q. Do you hope to play a major part in that?

JON RAHM: I'm going to try. It's two Ryder Cups. It's not like I have five or six like some others did, but it's two. Listen, if they want me to be a role model on the team or a leader, I will be. I'm not the most vocal. I'm quite introverted myself, but I'll do what I can. I'll try to channel my inner Seve and do what I can do.
