Jack McDonald

Q. How did you feel coming up the last?

JACK McDONALD: I was fine. I was just doing what my game plan was and committed to every shot. Sometimes it goes like that, but I'm absolutely fine with it.

Q. (Indiscernible).

JACK McDONALD: Yeah, I actually -- when it pitched, I was like, if that spins a wee bit more to the right, I might have a wee chance. But no, as I said, it was -- yeah, the second shot in, I had to take it on. I had to hit it through the middle of the bunkers. It was just that risk I had to take. But just the way the ball was lying.

Q. Obviously you'll be disappointed missing out, but nonetheless it's not been a bad two days, has it.

JACK McDONALD: No, it was good. I played well. Yeah, I've played solid golf. The only bunker I found was that one on the last, but that was only -- if I probably didn't feel as if I needed that birdie, I would have probably took something and hit it over it, but that was -- I just felt like I had to do that, and yeah, I'm fine with it.

Q. You're used to playing golf here; is this as tough as this course plays?

JACK McDONALD: Yeah. Yeah. I would say so. Just the way the firmness of the fairways, firmness of the greens because you need to hold it up. You need to hit it both ways. I would say in my opinion anyway. And I think it's an amazing test of golf, honestly. It's probably -- it tests every facet of your game, and that's the way you want it.

Q. Mixing it with the world's best, that's a lifetime ambition for you, isn't it?

JACK McDONALD: Yeah, yeah, of course, I would love to play in these competitions week in, week out. After getting a taste of it this week, yeah, I feel as if I'll be more and more ready to come and do this because I think it's awesome, and I think the way the course is set up and everything about it is awesome.

Q. It's some learning curve for you, isn't it, but really something to build on?

JACK McDONALD: Yeah, I would say that's just the way golf kind of goes. You go through boys' golf, you get to a wee milestone in the men's golf and then you feel comfortable there and then you turn pro. It's all just little milestones. Now I'm 31 and I've managed to play my first major championship, so I would class that as another little milestone, and hopefully I can build on it.

Q. Any reason why you can't do this again?

JACK McDONALD: Yeah, well, it's just -- I just want to go out there, and I think now especially, even like with John caddying and stuff like that, it just gave me a lot of good things going forward that I can look back on.

Q. What's next in the schedule? Back to the bread and butter?

JACK McDONALD: Yeah, so playing Challenge Tour, playing the next three events on Challenge Tour. But yeah, the Challenge Tour is great. Great standard, as well. I'll be taking the ferry across probably Monday, play the two events over there and then nip over. Unfortunately I've got to travel, but I suppose that's what you need to do in this game. Yeah, but I'm looking forward to it.
