Q. Minjee, what are your thoughts on your performance after the first round?
MINJEE LEE: I would probably sum it up as eventful. I played really well the first seven holes, and then I got to 8, 9, and 10, and I sort of had a bit of a bloop. Then I came back really strong and made birdie and eagle to come back and pretty much played solid to finish.
So I just need to do a little bit better those three holes, and I think I'll be in a good position.
Q. Can you tell us a bit more about that eagle on 12.
MINJEE LEE: Sure. I think I had 196 meters into the pin, and it was slightly into the wind today. So I hit my 5-wood, and I think it landed in a very soft spot. So it was only like a four-foot putt for eagle. So it was nice.
Q. The conditions are a little different today than they were in the practice rounds. Did that affect you in any way, or are you sort of getting used to the links out there now?
MINJEE LEE: No, I think it's calmer today than the other days we played. So just play a little bit less wind. But I think it's the opposite direction today. The conditions -- the course is just so tough, so I just think it's a great challenge even without like terrible weather. I just embraced whatever I got today.
Q. That closing stretch of holes at 16, 17, 18, is that something you think about when you're about to approach those holes? They're notoriously difficult holes. Just trying to get yourself in position before you get to those holes?
MINJEE LEE: Yes, I actually made birdie on 16. I was so proud of myself. I bogeyed 17, but still. They're just really tough holes to finish, but they're really fair but challenging. So I just really enjoy playing a challenging golf course. Try your best.
Q. Going into tomorrow, wouldn't change anything? Quite happy with how things are with your game?
MINJEE LEE: Yeah, I think going in the right direction. I was 5-over on those three holes. If I minimize a little on that score, I think I'll be all right.
