Lexi Thompson

THE MODERATOR: Lexi, how happy are with you that performance.

LEXI THOMPSON: I was definitely happy. I had a good stretch birdies on the front nine, try to keep that momentum coming and had a few bogeys on the back but that will happen out there. A lot tougher hole locations I felt today even though it wasn't too windy. There was a lot of pins that you just had to play away from and take your par and run.

THE MODERATOR: Nice position going into the weekend. Does that give you confidence for the two rounds ahead.

LEXI THOMPSON: I'm going to go into the weekend with the same mindset as the last few days, one shot at a time. Some weather might come in for the weekend and that happens out here. Just got to control what I can control and that's my emotions and my game and take it one shot at a time and enjoy it.

Q. Nice birdie stretch there, 4 through 6. Can you give us a little bit of highlights of those three holes?

LEXI THOMPSON: Let's see, No. 4, I hit driver, had 75 yards in, hit a good pitch shot, bounced, hit it 20, 25 feet past the hole and made it.

The next hole I hit a 2-iron off the tee and it went like around the bunker and I was like on top of the bunker basically in the rough and I hit it to about 30, 35 feet and made a nice long one. And then the next hole I hit the reachable par 5, I hit a driver, 5-iron and I hit like mid-3 and it went into the back bunker and hit a bunker shot to 15 feet, little left-to-righter and made it and lipped it in.

Q. You said yesterday that you worked super hard on your week off. What part of your game do you feel like that time spent is paying off this week the most?

LEXI THOMPSON: Probably more my ball-striking. But I worked on everything when I was home. I worked on chipping probably the least amount but still hours a day, just because the grass is so different here and you putt a lot more than chipping out here. But I worked on everything extremely hard. I did hours on the putting green today but I worked probably the most on my ball-striking, so definitely seeing that payoff here and hopefully it will, as well.

Q. Was that you and your dad?

LEXI THOMPSON: My dad actually wasn't home so I was just out there on my own. Solo with my music.
