Q. I just want to know the mentality as you got ready for this final round today.
MADELENE SAGSTROM: I knew it was going to probably be difficult but not so difficult. I knew I needed birdies because we knew the wind was going to be down. It's a tricky course, but you still have to give yourself chances. That's the whole mentality, just hit greens today because I've been putting well all week and I putted well today. They were just on the edges all day unfortunately.
Q. We saw a couple lips and you saw the ball go around the hole, and we saw a seagull at the beginning take your ball? Did you know it brought it back 25 yards?
MADELENE SAGSTROM: No, I was like, why is everyone in the fairway and why is my tee shot so short? And they were like, seagulls, and it was a first for me.
Q. When you got to 18 and had to make that putt, just overall, what were you thinking and as we come around here, how proud are you of this moment to be in contention at a major?
MADELENE SAGSTROM: I knew that 16, 17 and 18 were going to be extremely difficult. I hit a beautiful shot on 16. Had a birdie putt there and then I made birdie on 17. I'm like, what's going on here. I'm like, please hit the fairway on 18 and I didn't do it today either. I knew I was going to need an up-and-down there for my wedge. I hit not the greatest of wedge shots. It was a good speed but just a little bit low.
It's a bittersweet feeling because finishing tied second in a major, if you would have told me that before the week, I'd probably have been laughing at you. And now, I mean, I'm extremely happy for an in a, but wish I would have played after.
Q. After the green you were able to say "hi" to your fellow Swede?
MADELENE SAGSTROM: I was sitting there watching on TV and was like no, I want to be out there. We just spent Olympics together, too, so we are close as friends. It's just amazing to see her and her game. She's been out here for a long time and she's had major success, but I think this is going to be very high on her list, too. It was nice to be a part of that.
