Andrea Lee

Q. How do you assess your round?

ANDREA LEE: I'm really satisfied with the way I played today. I stayed really patient and I only had one bogey on the card, birdied all the par 5s and birdied two par 3s. So yeah, pretty pleased with the way I played.

Q. At the moment, this could be your best performance in a major so far. Inspiration for the weekend?

ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I mean, being a Major Champion is at the top of the list for my goals in my career, and I put myself in contention this weekend, and I'm not going to try and think about it, think about the outcome or the results. I'm just going to do what I did the first two days, and you know, try and just stay really patient and hopefully, you know, it will turn out well.

Q. What was the key today? Fairways and putts?

ANDREA LEE: Honestly just fairways and greens. Hit a lot of greens today. Just put myself in good spots, I would say. I didn't make any careless mistakes out there. No 3-putts, either, so that was nice.

Yeah, like I said, just one bogey on the card. Had a great save on 15. I pulled it into the heather, you know, the purple stuff, and managed to save par. I felt like that was a birdie.

So yeah, just trying to minimize the mistakes out there as much as I can.

Q. And you could have a long time to wait before your tee off tomorrow. How will you fill the time between now and the third round?

ANDREA LEE: Just resting. I feel like these weeks always take a toll on the body and the mind, so just going to grab some lunch, stretch out, and put my feet up and get a good night's rest because I only got like six hours of sleep last night.

Q. Are you trying to keep in touch or do you try to put it out of your mind?

ANDREA LEE: Just try to put it out of my mind. Ally played phenomenal today. I did not see 7-under par, but I'm not trying to chase her, do anything out of the ordinary. Nothing special. Just trying to stick to my game plan and if I catch her, great. If I don't, you know, at least I have a chance.

Q. Did you not smile when you first thought that she was up the leaderboard --

ANDREA LEE: I kind of laughed. There's a lot of leaderboards out there, so it's kind of hard not to look at them, and I think she was like 5-under through nine holes or something. I was like, whoa, I did not see that. I'm 1-under through nine, and I thought that was pretty good.

So I mean, yeah, she played great today.

Q. Have you played with her before?

ANDREA LEE: Yeah, a few times. I played with her last year. In Cincinnati, actually, she ended up winning. She played so well the first few days.

But she's a really great person. I would consider her a friend. But yeah, it's always fun playing with Ally.

Q. Do you have a target for the week?

ANDREA LEE: A target, like a set number in mind?

Q. A trophy?

ANDREA LEE: A trophy? A trophy would be nice. That's the goal. I feel like that's everyone's goal every week we tee it up and it's definitely mine coming into this weekend. I'm going to try not to think about it.
