ED HODGE: Okay, ladies and gentlemen, for our final preview press conference of the day, delighted to be joined by Haeran Ryu, two-time major champion this year. Welcome to the AIG at Royal Lytham and St Annes. Can you achieve the hat trick and win another one?
HAERAN RYU: Yeah, the weather is pretty good and the food is good in dining, so happy to come back to AIG Women's Open this year. Still a little uncomfortable to interview like two times major champion, so, yeah, I'm so happy right now.
ED HODGE: Must give you great confidence for this week, winning the previous two majors.
HAERAN RYU: Yeah, I have a lot of confidence. I got a lot of confidence after two major champion, and then but this is another golf course and another golf, so I just keep working hard with my team.
So, yeah, but I'm so happy to come back here and with the major champions. So, yeah, I'm so happy.
ED HODGE: Okay.
Q. What have you done these past two weeks to prepare, to rest, celebrate?
HAERAN RYU: I go back to Korea couple days; ten days I stay in Korea, and then I have a lot of schedule with my sponsors. But, yeah, but I'm so happy to little celebrate with my sponsors and my friends and my family.
So, yeah, now I'm back to work, and still happy, but I just want to change my mindset for the links golf course.
Q. You don't have too many reps in terms of links golf. Take us back to your first experience playing links golf and what that was like.
HAERAN RYU: Yeah, I think first experience for the links course was four years ago in AIG, so it was so tough. I remember that, because too windy but my ball flies too high so it was so hard to hit greens. But these days it's much better than four years ago, but still hard. (Smiling.)
But yeah, it was too windy so too hard to read the line on the greens, so that's why I felt more hard make some birdie at the here.
Q. Have you adjusted your ball flight for this week?
HAERAN RYU: It supposed to be a little less than last year. The weather is too windy, too. Hopefully I hit a lot greens and I want to make some a lot of chance. That's it.
Q. If you had to explain to someone what is the difference between the AIG and the Women's Open and the other majors, what would you say?
HAERAN RYU: Yeah, for sure links. Just links. Because another major usually we playing in the U.S., and Evian is a little hilly course, so the AIG is way different. The course type is links golf course so that's why everybody felt more hard, and, yeah, that's why it's a major.
Q. What would be your advice for a rookie, somebody that plays here for the first time? What would you tell her?
HAERAN RYU: I'm still rookie for links course, so...
I think just don't do that in the bunker. (Laughter.) Just in the rough and fairway is fine, but the pot bunker is too hard to make some green because the fairway bunker is too deep and small. So always layout, so I just tell them like just no bunker in the fairway.
Q. How proud are you to be the only person to have hit 60 in a major championship?
HAERAN RYU: Yeah, I can't believe it, because before my low number is 62. I think about it like I think this is my lowest score in my life. But I make some 60, so is it for sure my score? Is it right? So I counted again and my caddie after the 18 holes. But it's 11-under par and par 71 in the Evian, so, oh, my God, it's a 60.
Still I can't believe it, but a lot of proud myself because that course is so tricky because a lot of hilly and the green is tricky and the lie is tricky.
So I made a great score at the course, so I can do it. Any golf courses can made a low score. Yeah, I'm so happy and then a lot of proud myself. (Smiling.)
Q. I know Maja Stark is one player who says you've got the best swing in the game. Just wondering which players do you enjoy watching play golf?
HAERAN RYU: I think every player swings pretty good because the best player in the world, every player is best player in the world and they can play this year. So every stats Nelly is pretty good, so I think I play Nelly a couple times. I learn a lot from Nelly, so I choose Nelly. Her swing is pretty good, too.
