Belinda May

Q. Belinda, thank you so much for joining us here. First round of the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific done and dusted. Happy with the round today?

BELINDA MAY: Yes, I'm quite happy with my round today. It was a bit of a roller coaster, but I'm really happy with how I played today.

Q. A roller coaster it may have been. Talk to us about the highlights.

BELINDA MAY: I started out on the back nine, and I was 3-under. I just was making putts, and I was having a good time.

Then I had some trouble on No. 2, lost my ball off the tee. I didn't even think I'd lost it. I couldn't find it. So I just re-teed and continued on and made some birdies coming in, which I'm quite happy about.

Q. So lots of positives there from today. Are you feeling confident heading into the next three days?

BELINDA MAY: Yes, I'm just here doing my best. That's all I can do and just enjoying this whole experience. Very grateful for this whole experience to be able to be here.

Q. The Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific is obviously a really significant championship for girls in this region. Can you tell us what it means for you to be here.

BELINDA MAY: It just means everything. I'm just so grateful to be able to participate -- just how this tournament is formatted and how it is presented. It's like being on the Tour. I just think that's really cool for women golfers and especially for all the Asia-Pacific countries. I think it's really cool.
