Aloysa Atienza

Q. A hole-in-one. Talk to us. What happened? Did you see it go in?

ALOYSA ATIENZA: I definitely watched it go in. I had 149 meters when I lasered the pin. I knew from a couple of practice rounds I had, that if I go with an easy swing it would hit the upslope and roll down nicely. So I just had to execute it nicely. And for the first time I actually executed properly and the ball landed where I really wanted it to. And I was like, Oh, this actually looks like a good shot. So I stood there, watched it and I actually saw it go all the way in. And, I mean, I was just speechless because I wasn't really putting the best through the day and I didn't want to hold my putter anymore. And I guess just making a hole-in-one was like the solution to the issue (laughing.)

Q. What was your reaction when you saw it go in? Did you celebrate with your playing partners?

ALOYSA ATIENZA: Yeah, for sure. Actually it was quite funny because my playing partners walked out already and then they kind of stopped and I think they heard everyone cheering when the ball went in. So then they turned around and we started celebrating on the tee box.

Q. What club were you using? How far was it?

ALOYSA ATIENZA: It was 149 meters. But with the slope it was like 140. I was using 8-iron because it was a bit downwind and, yeah, it was the perfect yardage.

Q. Is this your first hole-in-one?

ALOYSA ATIENZA: Unfortunately not. I've made two hole-in-ones, but this is my first one in a tournament.
