Q. Thank you for the time after your round. Much appreciated. Yeah, let's just walk through that round one. How did it go? How do you feel?
XINGTONG CHEN: Overall, I don't think it was terrible, but it was just -- for me I had a slow start. I bogeyed the second hole and I think the fifth hole. So not the best start to my round, but I think as I got through to 18, like just got into my rhythm more and started making a few more putts.
For me, I think the main thing for today is just making more putts, yeah.
Q. Nice. You had a good second half there. Three birdies.
XINGTONG CHEN: Yeah. Two.
Q. Two birdies?
XINGTONG CHEN: No, three, three. You're right.
Q. Walk us through that. How does that feel finishing a bit stronger?
XINGTONG CHEN: Yeah, two of that was getting on the green in two on two of the par-5s, so I'm quite happy with that. Hoping to continue that on the next few days.
But I would also -- because I missed quite a few short putts for birdie out there today so I would just like to make a few more.
Q. On that, would you be taking a lot of the learning to the next round? What can you take?
XINGTONG CHEN: I mean, it was great conditions out there today, but had a few mishaps, so definitely looking to take some of the learning experiences to tomorrow and plan better.
Q. Nice. What does it feel like being in front of a New Zealand crowd, hearing those cheers?
XINGTONG CHEN: It's great. They're very enthusiastic actually. I was quite surprised. Quite a few people out there, uh-huh. Very nice.
Q. Really lovely people. How does it feel representing your country and playing here with a lot of the other big names in the amateur game?
XINGTONG CHEN: I'm really honored to be able to represent Singapore in the Asia Pacific stage again. It is my fifth I think time here, so just happy to be here again and trying to play to the best of my ability.
