Q. 4-under here today at St Annes Old Links, you must be happy with that?
ANTON ALBERS: Yeah, I am. Good start.
Q. Can you talk to us about the round, how you got to that score?
ANTON ALBERS: Well, he started off pretty well. Made two birdies on the first three holes and then made an eagle on 6. Got off to a hot start early which helped. Tried to stay out of trouble and avoid making big numbers out there.
Yeah, turned out to be a pretty good day, so I'm happy about that.
Q. Eagle always helps. Talk to us about 6 and what shots you played on that hole.
ANTON ALBERS: My tee shot, a little bit in the rough on the right. Had about 250 yards to the hole. I just tried to hit a 6-iron out there as far as I could and the ball came out pretty hot and it turned out to roll all the way on the green, and I had like 10 foot left for eagle.
So yeah, I was pretty happy about that, that I can make the putt, yeah.
Q. Stroke play is obviously all with qualifying for the match play here at The Amateur, but a nice start today. Do you feel like that changes the pressure off your round tomorrow?
ANTON ALBERS: Not really to be honest. Lytham tomorrow is going to be a new day. Probably a tougher golf course. So yeah, you've just got to be patient out there. Keep doing what I did today, play shot-for-shot and see what happens.
Q. For those of us that don't know you very well, what's your golfing background? What's your journey to this point been like?
ANTON ALBERS: I'm playing in college, University of Arkansas, Little Rock, for the last 3 1/2 years. I'm going to do one more year there on the national team playing for Germany. Yeah, I guess that's about what you should know about me I guess.
Q. Any stand-out performances to date?
ANTON ALBERS: Won three times in college. I won the Danish Amateur last year.
Q. Do you feel like you're coming into this week in a bit of form?
ANTON ALBERS: Yeah, I feel happy with where my game is at. Played on The European Tour last week, so that was nice, even though I didn't play my best. But I made some good experiences there, but obviously links golf is totally different story.
But yeah, I feel pretty comfortable with my game right now.
Q. So you played in the Mixed?
ANTON ALBERS: No. I played the Porsche European Open in Germany.
