Q. Great display, great days work into the quarter fine willings, you must be delighted with that?
SAM BAIRSTOW: Yeah, especially around here, played some really solid golf today. Into the quarters tomorrow so hopefully can go a bit better than last year.
Q. You're obviously finding Royal Lytham and St Annes to your liking. Have you played here much before?
SAM BAIRSTOW: Yeah, I played here quite a lot. I played the Lytham Trophy quite a few times and one of my mate's is a member and I've come up and played. I know it quite well.
Q. Any highlights this afternoon?
SAM BAIRSTOW: Not really. Overall pretty solid. I made a good birdie down on 8, holed a good putt. Didn't really give anything away, which around here which is all you need to do really.
Q. Is this the furthest you been?
SAM BAIRSTOW: I got to the quarters last year at Nairn.
Q. Gives you a challenge tomorrow, potentially might be facing Ludvig, obviously man in form as well.
SAM BAIRSTOW: Well, it would be a good game if he wins, obviously. So yeah, up for the challenge and see how we go.
Q. Last year, you came through final qualifying down at St Annes and got into St George's. What was that experience like at The Open last year?
SAM BAIRSTOW: It was amazing. I wasn't going into qualifying with much form, to shoot 9-under first rounds definitely was a surprise but to get it done that day and play at St George's with obviously the best players in the worlds was really good.
Q. So you know what you can achieve this week if you win it, St Andrews next month, is that driving you on as well to get back to The Open?
SAM BAIRSTOW: Yeah, definitely. Obviously you're sat there at night thinking about it but when you're out there playing, I don't think you can really do that otherwise you're just going to get sidetracked, so just take, cliché, but one shot at a time.
Q. A little bit of pressure on you this week because you're top-ranked GB&I. Are you still feeling that or taking each game as it comes?
SAM BAIRSTOW: Not really. I think John is taking some of the shine off me with his win, so I think I'm all right.
Q. Strategy for tomorrow?
SAM BAIRSTOW: Fairways and greens really that should get it done around here. Keep on doing that.
