Christo Lamprecht

Q. Christo, it's been a long day, two matches but two wins. You must be really happy with how you're going.

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: Yeah, I've been playing really good golf in the stroke play. Just didn't make any putts during the stroke play, and then kind of had to make -- force my way into the match play. I played really good golf today.

Q. Talk to us about your morning match. How did that unfold? What went well?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: That probably was one of the best match play matches I've played in a long time. I think I was about 7-under. The guy I was playing, Jack Ingham, he was about 6-under. I won on 18, 1-up. I was very pleased the way I was playing, and win or lose, I would have been happy with how I played that round.

Q. Is it fun when you and your playing partner are both making so many birdies?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: Yeah, it's nice when you feed off each other. The true competitiveness comes out. Yeah, it's fun to play match play.

Q. Talk to us about your match this afternoon. How did that unfold?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: Same thing. Kind of got off to a nice hot start and then just kept him at bay. Didn't make any stupid mistakes, and just played really solid golf.

Q. Did I hear your caddie say you had an eagle today?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: Yeah, kind of. I got given the eagle, but I hit it really close. Yeah, some good golf.

Q. How close was it and what hole?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: It was on 11, and I hit it to about seven feet, and my opponent kind of made par, so he just kind of gave me the putt.

Q. Obviously you're the highest ranked player in the field. Do you feel like that gives you an advantage or puts any extra pressure on?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: No. I kind of have been really focused on just controlling what I can control and just being present in the moment. That's kind of a big thing I've been working on this whole year. It's match play; anyone can beat anyone. Whoever is playing better is going to win.

It's kind of just controlling what I can control and not getting ahead of myself.

Q. South Africa has got a really big contingent of players here this year and you always go so well in this championship. Is there nice team spirit?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: Yeah, definitely. I haven't seen the South African guys in a good bit since I've been playing college in America. But yeah, we get along like a house on fire, and it's always nice having them around.

Q. Obviously Aldrich won this championship last year. Do you know Aldrich at all, and would it be nice to try and make it back-to-back for South Africa?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: I don't actually know Aldrich that well. I kind of left South Africa when he went back after spending his time in Australia. But since the Amateur we've spent a lot of time together, and he's a great golfer, and I would love to do exactly what he did last year.

Q. Loads of golf today, but there's a lot more to be played tomorrow. What do you need to do to recover?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: Maybe go see the physio, a little bit like that. My back has been aching me on a little bit this last week. I've played a lot of golf the last month or two. So maybe just that and get some rest.

Q. The back is not an injury, it's just lots of golf?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: It's just a little fatigue. I've been played a lot of golf the last month or so. So I just keep it at bay and just control it.

Q. Feeling confident?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: Yeah, very much so. I like the way I played golf today. If I can keep on doing that, it'll be good.
