Christo Lamprecht

Q. 2023 Amateur Champion, how does that sound?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: I mean, I tried to stay my zone the last couple holes so much. He was playing good and fighting back hard. Hasn't sunk in yet but it feels good.

Q. You smell of champagne and success, which you and your South Africans have had in the last six years. The third champion from your home country; must be amazing.

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: Yeah, I'm guessing South Africans like playing links golf. We kind of like being creative so I get that flowed over into this championship.

Q. What was the point where you thought you could get over the line? Where was the turning point on the match?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: Honestly I felt really comfortable on hole 5 (this afternoon) when I tried to hit a hard drive over the bunker and just snap hooked it into the jungle. I kind of somehow found a way to halve that hole. I felt like that was a good turning point. I just had to keep playing good golf and it was good from there.

Q. I know you're heading home tomorrow, but don't unpack the bags because you'll be returning for the The Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. How does sound to be playing with the big boys in a major like that?

CHRISTO LAMPRECHT: I have to be honest with you my main goal this year was try to get into a major somehow. Getting into three, that's pretty insane. But right now I'm going to go celebrate as much as I can.
