Q. First match of the week won, you must be very pleased.
JORDAN BURNAND: Yes; I won the first match, excited to get through the first hurdle.
Q. Talk to us about the match. What were the ebbs and flows?
JORDAN BURNAND: It was good. Back and forth a bit. Around the turn he gave me three holes in a row to 11, got to 4-up. 4-up gives you a bit of a buffer. Then he gave me one and I gave him one back, and all of a sudden it was two, but to finish 3&1 I'm very happy.
Q. What was great about your game today?
JORDAN BURNAND: I hit the ball well off the tee, especially the longer clubs off the tee. Makes it a bit easier from the fairway than hitting out of the rough.
Q. Does today give you a nice boost of confidence?
JORDAN BURNAND: Yeah, if you can beat anyone out here, it's good to have a bit of confidence going into the next couple rounds is good.
Q. Obviously keeping those South African hopes alive of a three-peat.
JORDAN BURNAND: Yes, that's obviously the main goal. But I think you need to focus on one shot at a time, one hurdle at a time, but that's the end goal.
Q. It looks like there's a strong sense of camaraderie on the South African team. Is that what it feels like on the inside, too?
JORDAN BURNAND: Yes, it is. It's really good and it's fantastic to be part of.
Q. It's your birthday on Friday. How to you hope to be spending it?
JORDAN BURNAND: Hopefully with two wins on Friday straight into the final. That would be a fantastic birthday present. Nothing would beat that.
