Q. You must be chuffed with that, a decent start?
EUPHEMIE RHODES: Yeah, the front nine didn't really go my way. Putts weren't dropping and I just kept on going steady. My Mum said even or 1-over was going to be a solid score in the wind, so I just kept being positive. And then putts started to drop and I started to hit them closer and gain more confidence as I played.
Q. Is your Mum on the bag?
EUPHEMIE RHODES: Yeah.
Q. Why is there a reluctance to say that? She's just helping out?
EUPHEMIE RHODES: Sometimes I blame it on her and sometimes she just whispers to me stuff and I just ignore them now. I'm used to the comments.
Q. What's her name?
EUPHEMIE RHODES: Penny. But she's helpful keeping people calm. She helped calm me.
Q. And tell me about this run you had, where did it start, the birdies?
EUPHEMIE RHODES: 10. I started, I missed an easy chance for a birdie on 9, the par 5.
And 10, the par 4, I hit a really nice shot into 10 and holed a nice 8-footer, and that gave me confidence for the next holes.
Had a short shot in on 11 because the wind was behind. Holed that one for eagle.
Then the next, obviously I had a lot of confidence and I holed another 8-footer for a birdie.
Q. Have you been here before? Do you know the place at all?
EUPHEMIE RHODES: No, but I actually just found out that my grandma was born here. But I've never been here or played golf here before.
Q. What's her name?
EUPHEMIE RHODES: Sue Goodwin.
Q. Where does she live now?
EUPHEMIE RHODES: She actually passed away a couple years ago. She was mad about golf. Got most of my golf genes from her, I would say, not from my parents.
Q. How has your form been generally this year, pretty decent?
EUPHEMIE RHODES: Yeah, I just got back from university in America. I had a solid year, not too great, so I wasn't coming into the year with much confidence. But it's a fresh start and a good start to the summer, so I came in positive and didn't think much of it.
Yeah, I just tried to stay positive, and my swing coach, he gives me a lot of confidence. So I thought I would repay the favour by playing well for him.
Q. Strong field this week.
EUPHEMIE RHODES: Yeah, it's similar playing out in college because most of the players are European and I get to play with them out there.
Yeah, pretty strong field and I'm happy to be at the top of it.
