Q. Some win, you had to fight hard.
SARA BYRNE: Yeah, I was down early. I was 2-down, through three. I handed her to 2 and 3 to be honest. Stupid mistakes I haven't made all week. I was like, look, it's going to happen on this golf course.
Just all I did was stay so patient. That's all I could do. I was hitting really good shots. Ball just was not dropping. Like the first putt I holed it was literally on par to bring it down 18. It was a sigh of relief knowing I won on 19.
Q. You found the right time to hole one on 18.
SARA BYRNE: Seriously. The up-and-down was seriously a delight. That was a tough up-and-down, and to get it in that moment and that circumstance was kind of -- I had a little bit of momentum then coming down 19, and I knew it was going my way then.
Q. What happened on 19?
SARA BYRNE: She made bogey. I made par. I stuck to my strategy. I pulled 3-iron again. It's been so disappointing on this golf course, really. Hit it down the middle of the fairway and hit it to 20 feet and 2-putt. Made it nice and simple, all I needed to do, really.
Q. How well do you know Portmarnock?
SARA BYRNE: Honestly not too well. I only started playing it this year because once I knew it was on -- yeah, this is probably like my fourth or fifth full round here. But I have a really good local caddie on the bag, so he's helping me as well.
Q. A fair bit of support. You have a decent crowd out here. Obviously keep it going and keep the fans happy.
SARA BYRNE: Yeah, the support this week, on the first stroke, really, I had fans out watching me and the support has been absolutely incredible. They have been egging me on. I want to do it for myself and I want to do it for them and keep the entertainment going.
Q. And I saw Catriona Matthew; a bit of support to try and impress her?
SARA BYRNE: Yeah, Curtis Cup coming up on the horizon, and I want to keep on performing. And obviously teams are teams; you never know what's going to happen. But getting a clutch win like that on 19 in front of her helps out a little bit I think.
