Catherine Park

Q. That's the job done, the first part done. You got off to a flying start today. Was that birdie, eagle, birdie in your first three holes? Talk us through that start.

CATHERINE PARK: I guess after yesterday, I was leaving all my putts short, so I told my caddie, I was like, I'm going to ram all my putts today, and I guess that got the job done for the first three holes, hitting them harder than usual.

Q. That gives you a lot of confidence when you see something going in, doesn't it?

CATHERINE PARK: Yeah, and after the first putt went in, that just became the job, hitting them as firm as I could.

Q. Pretty comfortable round up until what happened on the 18th?

CATHERINE PARK: On the 18th hole, it was funny, me and my caddie were talking how if I eagled the hole I could tie his lowest record here, and I really wanted to eagle the hole, but I kind of tugged it. Sadly, it was like an inch farther than the OB dot. Just had to go back, re-hit it. At least I saved a bogey.

Q. Did your caddie have a record here?

CATHERINE PARK: Yes. He said 64 is his record. I got kind of greedy on the last hole, but it's fine. Maybe during the match play.

Q. In the end that's all that matters, isn't it.

CATHERINE PARK: Of course, just got the job done to have a tee time tomorrow.

Q. Your experience in the Women's Amateur Championship, is this your first time?

CATHERINE PARK: This is my first time in the British.

Q. How are you finding the whole links examination? Obviously it's suiting you just now.

CATHERINE PARK: I like it. I played Palmer Cup last year, which was at Lahinch, which was a links golf course, so having that experience and coming here it wasn't too hard to adjust, which is nice.

Q. Obviously after Melanie's win last year, that's going to inspire a bit of American success and the opportunities that come along with it, but there's some nice carrots on the stick?

CATHERINE PARK: Yeah, it was nice having Melanie on my team for Curtis Cup last year, as well. It's like good juju.

Q. Match play, is that right up your street?

CATHERINE PARK: Yeah, I guess having some experience in match play, I feel pretty comfortable tomorrow, not too nervous, just trusting the game.
