Brendan Lawlor

Q. You said tough conditions. Was that down to was it just fire out there?

BRENDAN LAWLOR: It was fiery out there today. Wind picked up a lot as well today. Happy enough with my round. I struggled off the tee a wee bit more and found myself in a wee bit more trouble than I did yesterday.

Probably the turning point was on 6, the par 5. Should have been a birdie opportunity. I only had to about 200 to the pin and had to hit it through a little gap in the trees, and I hit the tree and kicked way into the rough on the left-hand side. Could have made par. Missed the putt for par but all in all a good day. I bogeyed.

Q. Could have been worse, is what you're saying?

BRENDAN LAWLOR: Could have been worse; could have been better. I kind of recovered well. I had a wee gap in the trees for my third shot. Hit it into the front bunker, and I hit a bunker shot to about, I'd say, eight or nine feet, and just missed on the high side today.

Lipped-out a few times today. Probably didn't have as good of a day on the greens as I did yesterday but one shot ahead with one day to go, good position.

Q. Your card, pretty steady. You're not making too many mistakes.

BRENDAN LAWLOR: Yeah, I'm hit it pretty good to be honest. I said to my caddie, tensed up on the back nine. Was missing a few on the right. I just need to swing it hard. That's my motto: Swing it hard and it's going straight. I'm going to go out with that attitude tomorrow. Be aggressive. I was very aggressive both days hitting driver where people wouldn't, and it's paying off already. I'm going to keep my game plan going and hopefully a low one tomorrow.

Q. Fair to say you've been challenging. Do you realise how tight it is when you're out there?

BRENDAN LAWLOR: Fantastic. I played with Frederik today for the first time. He's an absolute flusher.

Q. Started with three birdies.

BRENDAN LAWLOR: I was crapping myself starting off but he was a lovely guy, lovely to play with. Very polite. He got it going. Made a few mistakes on the turn but me and him were back-and-forth all day. Hopefully it's like that tomorrow and I come at the right end of it, hopefully.

Q. Number tomorrow you need to score?

BRENDAN LAWLOR: I think the winner is going to come from the top three because it's hard to go lower. I reckon if I shoot level par tomorrow, I could have a good chance of winning.
