K. BOULTER/R. Marino
6-3, 6-1
THE MODERATOR: What made Katie to difficult?
REBECCA MARINO: I found Katie really tricky because I think her having two matches coming through qualifying under her belt made a big difference. She definitely knew what these courts felt like. Really grooving in her game.
She's just come off a strong season so far, so definitely a challenging opponent, and props to her for playing a really good game tonight.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. You're a strong server, but you had trouble with your first ball, first serve, especially in the first set. What happened?
REBECCA MARINO: Yeah, I saw the stats on that, and I wasn't particularly happy when I was on the change-over.
Yeah, I think I struggled a little bit with the light and the wind, but really it's no excuse. It's something that I need to fix, so it's something I'm going to go out and work on on the court.
But, yeah, it definitely made a difference because my serve is one of my stronger aspects of my game.
Q. You said that she had played a couple of matches. You hadn't played since Wimbledon. Did that make a problem?
REBECCA MARINO: I played in Granby a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, so all good. Yeah, I don't know.
I feel like she had a really strong grass season. She won her first WTA title, so she's playing really well. She made third round of Wimbledon, so she's definitely like a hot, up-and-coming player in that sense that she's really feeling her game right now, so definitely a dangerous one.
Not someone to underestimate, that's for sure, and I didn't. I just knew that she would be coming in playing really well.
Q. Are you in for Cincinnati?
REBECCA MARINO: I'm an alternate right now, so I'm going to try and see if I can get in.
