Raheem Morris

Postgame Press Conference

Dolphins - 34, Falcons - 10

RAHEEM MORRIS: Tough day obviously at the office. Sundays is many things you can be humbled, and today was one of those days.

Q. Could you discuss the the play of the offense and the touchdown right before the half with 11 seconds.

RAHEEM MORRIS: Tough to discuss anybody's play when you go out and play that way. It was bad across the board. It starts with us, and it's something that we've got to fix all together, and we've got to go and get those things done this week.

Q. The touchdown right before the half looked like they kind of swung momentum.

RAHEEM MORRIS: They swung momentum pretty early there within this game. That touchdown at the half actually didn't help. It was one of those things where you've got to find a way to go get a stop. We had so many penalties to set those guys up in backed up situations, not allowing us to keep the football and move on third down.

It was an all around bad day. You can talk about that, but quite honestly, it was a tough day all around.

Q. Do you feel they had a beat on what you were doing offensively?

RAHEEM MORRIS: You would have to say yes. They had a beat on what we were doing offensively. They had a beat on what we were doing on special teams. They did a nice job today, and we did not do a good job today.

Q. You've had a tough time following up both the Minnesota game and the Buffalo game. Any explanation for that at this point?

RAHEEM MORRIS: I don't. We've got to go back and look at the tape, evaluate those things, and get ready to go.

Q. Any update on Jessie?

RAHEEM MORRIS: I don't. I was just in the locker room. I had to come out here. I don't know anything yet medically.

Q. Do you any anything about Penix and Drake for next week?

RAHEEM MORRIS: I don't. We'll have to check those out.

Q. Just wondering about Drake. He was a late addition to the injury report yesterday. What was the deal there?

RAHEEM MORRIS: We changed status yesterday. He had a problem during the week, tried to make it, couldn't make it all the way up until today and had to be ruled out.

Q. In three games, I think you could just say Carolina and last week and this week, it didn't seem like you were equal to the task ready to play. What would have you have to say about that?

RAHEEM MORRIS: I would say Carolina this week was one of those things. Last week obviously it was a 13-10 game in the fourth quarter. Tough game going out to the West Coast, and we lost it. This week we got smashed. At Carolina, we definitely got smashed, I would agree with you.

Q. What did you think about third down conversions today?

RAHEEM MORRIS: Not very good. We've got to find a way to convert those. We've got to find a way to move the chains. We've got to find a way to actually stop those guys on third down. We've got to get off the grass. We were not good in a lot of aspects of football today. We've got to be better.

Q. When did you make the decision to go with Cousins, and how many reps did he get during the week relative to what a first string QB usually gets?

RAHEEM MORRIS: As you know throughout the process of all week, obviously we made the decision today -- you take that thing all the way to the wire when you're talking about your quarterback.

Kirk obviously got the majority of reps throughout the week as we talked about in our press conferences and throughout the course of the week. He got a lot of those things from a mental standpoint, lot of those things from a practice standpoint, but we had to make the ultimate decision today.

Q. It seemed like there were a handful of throws down the field that Kirk made where there was some confusion with the receiver. Without looking at the tape, what did you see on some of those plays?

RAHEEM MORRIS: I could think of one where we had the confusion in the third quarter, made the wrong check. Obviously we want to get the ball up-and-down to the receiver, but we shouldn't have made that check.

Q. From a coaching standpoint, what do you do to keep the locker room together after a game like this?

RAHEEM MORRIS: That's the easy part. For us, these guys are together guys. This is a team. These guys won't stray away from each other. The locker room will stay together. They'll stay bonded. Not worried about that, but we've definitely got to correct the physical mistakes we made today. We've got to correct those mistakes.

We've got to be up front and honest. We've got to communicate because that's where the things you don't like will creep in. That's what we don't want to happen. So we'll constantly communicate.

Q. Are you surprised by the inconsistency of the team? You play a good game and let it slip back a little bit?

RAHEEM MORRIS: Not surprised. This is the National Football League. If you don't come ready to play, and clearly we weren't today, these things can happen. We've got to go out and fix those things.

Q. How badly did you miss Diablo today?

RAHEEM MORRIS: You're always going to miss those players, but nobody cares. That doesn't matter. It's always got to be the next man up mentality. You've got to find a way to win football games, and that's what's required. Nothing else matters.

Q. You mentioned not being ready to play. How do you fix that at this point after it's shown up twice now?

RAHEEM MORRIS: Only thing you can do is practice. You've got to go out and practice, go out and teach, and make sure you get better. That's our jobs.

Q. Raheem, you said earlier humbling day at the office, just a tough day in general. Without looking at the tape, what was the toughest part of today?

RAHEEM MORRIS: It all started right from the beginning, not being able to run the football and control the game. That's our lifeline. When that's not working, it's going to look bad on us, whether it be offense, defense, or special teams. That's our lifeline, being able to run the football on offense.
