Coach Nick Sirianni

Weekday Press Conference

Q. Is there like a leadership council or do you meet with the captains at my point over the course of the week?

NICK SIRIANNI: I do. We do that on Saturday after walk-through.

Q. Is it just the captains or...

NICK SIRIANNI: No, it's a select group of guys from every different position group.

Q. Is that something you learned from Frank?

NICK SIRIANNI: Yeah, yeah. He did that, and obviously I thought that was a good idea. It's just a way to have open communication with your players and talk through different things, schedules, issues, anything that pops up.

It's just an easy way to gather right there after the walk-through and talk for two, three, four, five minutes.

Q. How much has that changed during the year as far who is involved, or does it change?

NICK SIRIANNI: It started off with a select group of guys and it's stayed that way the whole time.

Q. Is Jordan going to be, Jordan Howard...

NICK SIRIANNI: He will be up.

Q. And slay?

NICK SIRIANNI: Yeah, he passed his protocol and he'll be up.

Q. Obviously a lot of newness from the Giants in a short week. How do you approach that as far as -- from your perspective game planning is the same, but from Jonathan's it's got to be a little bit different.

NICK SIRIANNI: Yeah, again, we have two guys on our staff that have actually went through this. Shane took over playcalling duties in the middle of the year and Jim Bob took over playcalling duties in the middle of the year.

So they were able to -- Jonathan came and asked me about it. I said, you know what, we got two guys here. Go talk to them. I know he went and talked to them. You also saw this because Freddie took over playcalling duties there in Cleveland, so we were able to get a little bit of that information as well.

When you're going against some unknowns you have to ready to play your roles and be ready to adjust as needed throughout the game.

Q. (Indiscernible) do you see any similarities?

NICK SIRIANNI: No. I don't. I don't. And that was just a long time ago, too as far as when I worked with Todd, so a lot of things have changed.

Q. A few weeks ago you mentioned the rivalry board you guys have. What is on that rivalry board?

NICK SIRIANNI: What it is is it has all the -- it has a four big screens kind of pushed up against each other that is just constantly playing highlights from Giants games from the past. Obviously only Eagles clips.

And then there is the two helmets on it. There is two helmets stacked next to each other, Eagles helmet with and Giants helmet.

And off the side, right side of it, because it's a big wall, it's probably just maybe a little bit bigger than this wall behind me there is just dates of famous games with the picture above it of a famous play from that game.

Q. As someone who is new to Philly, what games or moments have stood out as you walked by this week?

NICK SIRIANNI: The Westbrook play with a punt return. Was it a punt return I think?

There was a DeSean Jackson play, with another punt return, right?

And then obviously the Chuck Bednarik play with Frank Gifford. Those are the three that stick to my mind, that pop out. There is a lot of good plays on that. I don't want to leave anybody out. Maclin had a big touchdown in 2010. I don't want to sound like too much of a nerd either because I looked at all that stuff, too.

Q. Who's the most likely on your defense to pull a Bednarik?

NICK SIRIANNI: Illegal, so we'll stay away from that.

Q. Obviously the Giants were upset like in the regular season finale last year, before you were here obviously. With the way that game ended, I mean, do you think that that carries over at all into this game?

NICK SIRIANNI: You know what? That's a good question. Again that's something I can't speak on just because I wasn't here for it. I wasn't in the building for it.

It's a big rivalry that we are all blessed to be part of. I'm just honored that I can be a part of this rivalry. It's a rare thing in the NFL to have -- I don't want to say it's rare, but it's pretty cool to have the rivalries we have in this division.

Again, just honored to be a part of it.

Q. Any takeaways from the coaches on your staff that have experienced those changes in season about what to expect?

NICK SIRIANNI: I think the main takeaway is they're going to -- again, we've talked about it in here before. There is going to be differences. It's not going to be the same. That's just the case with anybody calling it.

And again, that's if Coach Kitchens and Coach Garrett, even if they think about football exactly the same, it's still going to play out different.

But -- and I don't know how close they think about football. I'm not in those meetings with them.

So, again, just the expect the unexpected.
